| I now have little doubt that "innovation is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration." The inspiration for EyeOP originally came from the desire to create a Palm program to convert Goldmann pressures to "true" pressures, as driven by the findings of OHTS. From there I kept adding features that I wanted to have at my fingertips for my own practice. For example, I would always jot down glaucoma risk factors, pertinent health issues, untreated pressures, and corneal thickness measurements in the front of a glaucoma patient's chart, and so I built this capability into the program. IOP targeting is also an important concept, and I thought I might as well use the computer to help calculate these values based on glaucoma severity definitions. Further, I always wanted an easy-to-use and complete glaucoma medicine reference (including cost information), so I thought this a worthwhile feature to add. The same goes for having laser parameters in a handy format. I actually had other glaucoma reference ideas that I did not incorporate, such as gonio exam classification, disc damage likelihood scale, a glaucoma study results database, etc., for fear of program-bloat. Maybe in the future, especially if others request it.
